The Firm
An independent advisory firm, founded in Africa to structure investment across Africa.
The architect of projects that transform African economies.
KUMBA — Investment Advisory for Africa — is a pan-African project structuring and investment advisory firm. We support sovereign States, territorial authorities, and institutional investors in translating economic development priorities into bankable, financed transactions.
Our mission is specific: design the project, prove its economic viability, organize its legal and financial architecture, and champion it before decision-makers and capital providers capable of funding it. We collaborate with Heads of State, key ministries, investment promotion agencies, and tier-one development finance institutions.
We are not a private equity fund. This position as an independent structurer empowers us to advocate objectively for the project itself, the host State, and the partners funding it.
Born from an insight: Africa does not lack capital; it lacks projects engineered to receive it.
KUMBA was founded in January 2026 in Cotonou, Benin, by Hermann Fabrice Mensah. His founding conviction, forged over 15 years in executive leadership and institutional relations: global capital available for Africa remains under-deployed due to a scarcity of projects structured to institutional underwriting standards.
The firm set itself a mission: bridge the missing link between sovereign vision and institutional investor requirements. Within its very first year, KUMBA established an office in Libreville, Gabon, and launched advisory mandates across more than ten French-speaking African nations.
Rooted identity, continental ambition.
« KUMBA embodies the idea of that which unites and that which endures. A concise name, easily pronounced across all our working languages, chosen to assert our authentic African roots and our pan-African purpose. »
A five-stage structuring discipline.
Each project is anchored in an explicit sovereign development mandate. Without it, no project proceeds: this is our primary, non-negotiable prerequisite.
Opportunity assessments, bankable business plans, and financial models built strictly to the standards of international investment committees.
Dedicated OHADA Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), clear capital allocation between public and private partners, and a reputable technical partner.
Multi-layered guarantee architecture, from sovereign backstops to political risk insurance and long-term commercial off-take agreements.
Targeted presentations to development finance institutions (IFC, Proparco, AfDB, BADEA, MIGA) and institutional investors through to financial close.
Professionals who understand Africa from within.
Corporate executive and sovereign relations specialist, Hermann Fabrice Mensah founded KUMBA in 2026. He previously held Managing Director and Country Director positions at Manobi Africa and Zeleus, a Boston-based software publisher. He also serves as Associate Partner at Hawksworth Advisors.
